Dr. Sharmin Majumder is a PhD Candidate in Health Services and Policy Research at Dalla Lana School of Public Health at University of Toronto in Canada. She is also a Research Coordinator in MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions at Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. She completed Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Cumilla Medical College, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh and a Master of Public Health from Mahidol University, Thailand. She has diverse experience of working in the area of health service, mental health, built environment, and health policy research with multiple organizations in Bangladesh, Thailand, and Canada. Her PhD focuses on health risks of moving to low-poverty neighborhoods from high poverty neighborhoods and social-contextual factors around redevelopment strategies.

Dr. Sharmin is a proud daughter of a freedom fighter in Guerrilla Warfare sector-2 during the liberation war of Bangladesh and carries immense love for her motherland in her heart. She looks forward to contributing to the health system development of Bangladesh using her skills and experience gained at home and abroad.
