Announcement of Scholarship 2021-2022

In honour of the memories of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatun Nessa Mujib and Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, the Bangabandhu Centre for Bangladesh Studies in Canada (BCBS) announced Five Scholarships to be awarded to Bangladeshi students studying in Canadian universities at the graduate and post-graduate levels in any session during the scholastic year 2021-2022. The Scholarships were announced by the Hon’ble High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Canada and the Chief Patron of the Bangabandhu Centre, Dr. Khalilur Rahman on 15th August 2021.The Thematic Areas of the Scholarships are as follows:

  • বঙ্গবন্ধুর “শান্তি দর্শন” ও বিশ্ব শান্তি প্রতিষ্ঠায় এর ইতিবাচক ভূমিকা ও গুরুত্ব।Bangabandhu’s “Peace Philosophy” and its     Role and Significance in building World Peace.
  • বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বাস্থ্য দর্শন ও বাংলাদেশে আজকের স্বাস্থ্যখাতের উন্নয়নে এর ভূমিকা।Bangladesh as a Role Model for Development: Marching forward for realizing Bangabandhu’s Unfinished Dream of Sonar Bangla (The Golden Bengal).
  • বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বপ্নের “সোনার বাংলা” বির্নিমানে উন্নয়নের “রোল মডেল” হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের অগ্রযাত্রা। Bangabandhu’s “Health Philosophy” and its role in achieving today’s progress in health sector in Bangladesh.
  • রাজনীতিতে বঙ্গমাতা ফজিলাতুন নেসা মুজিবের অবদান ও আজকের বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতিতে মহিলাদের অংশগ্রহনে এর তাৎপর্য। Bangamata Fazilatun Nessa Mujib’s contribution to politics and its significance in women’s increasing participation in contemporary politics in Bangladesh.
  • শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামাল: বাংলাদেশের আধুনিক ক্রীড়া জগতের রুপকার।Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal: The Architect of Modern Sports in Bangladesh.

Eligibility Criteria and Conditions:

  • Must be a Bangladeshi citizen accepted as an international student in any University within Canada for the Winter term 2021-2022.
  • The scholarship is offered only to the students accepted in graduate or post-graduate studies in Canada; Post-doctoral students will not be considered.
  • Must submit a proof of residency in Canada during the scholarship duration.
  • Can apply for one chosen theme only; multiple applications will not be accepted and may result in disqualification in the competition.
  • Applicants can hold multiple scholarships in other sectors/faculty/organization during the application.
  • Should have some previous work/s experience in the chosen theme (volunteer works, news article published etc.).
  • Bi-annual progress report of the research work must be communicated to the BCBS authority.
  • Female will be given priority in the selection.

Value and Duration:

  • $1000 (one time) for one year.
  • 75% of the scholarship will be disbursed at the beginning of the semester. Rest of the amount will be disbursed at the end of the academic year based on progress of the research work.

Deadline:

  • All applications must reach to BCBS by 1st November 2021.
  • Results will be announced by 1st December 2021.
